Location: Remote (Atlanta preferred) | Full-Time | Founding Team | $150–180K Salary + $40–80K Equity
Flexbone is building a vertically integrated AI platform for healthcare — turning unstructured claims and payor data into secure, explainable, and production-grade insights. As our Founding Engineer, you’ll work directly with the founders to design and build critical systems across data infrastructure, backend services, and automation layers.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build robust, scalable data pipelines using Python and Google Cloud (BigQuery, Cloud Run, GCS)
- Work with unstructured and semi-structured healthcare data (PDFs, HL7, X12, CSVs, scraped web content)
- Develop core backend services and APIs that power internal tools and external dashboards
- Deploy and maintain secure, containerized apps in production environments (CI/CD, GCP IAM, etc.)
- Collaborate on ML pipelines and workflow automations, including browser, voice, and document agents
- Create attribution-first data models that provide explainability and traceability across the stack
- Shape Flexbone’s engineering culture, best practices, and technical roadmap from the ground up
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience with Python (data pipelines, APIs, automation)
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, especially BigQuery and serverless services
- Comfort working with messy data — PDFs, medical codes, healthcare formats (X12/EDI, HL7, etc.)
- Experience deploying production software in cloud-native environments
- Ability to move quickly and make pragmatic decisions without sacrificing reliability or traceability
- Excitement to own large pieces of the product and infrastructure in a zero-to-one environment
Bonus Points
- Experience with healthcare systems, claims data, or provider/payor integrations
- Background in NLP, document parsing, or ML ops
- Familiarity with secure environments, auditability, or compliance-conscious development
- Frontend experience (React, dashboards) or a strong product sense
This is an opportunity to work on hard problems that actually matter — in a space where better data infrastructure can directly improve healthcare outcomes. If you want to build real AI, ship fast, and own core systems from day one, we’d love to hear from you.
